Plumerias at Midnight support fire recovery in Lahaina watercolor rich saturated canvas

Plumerias at Midnight

Aloha nui loa

In August 2023 the fire in Lahaina, Maui, struck a deep chord in the hearts of the Hawaiian people and those who love the islands. This felt deeply personal to me. It was unfathomable to grasp or understand.

I had been following the Hawaii Tracker Facebook group several times a day for about two weeks. I found comfort in the support given..

I was moved to offer something of beauty with the group. It came to mind to share a photo of this painting I had painted, Plumerias at Midnight.

Many of the responses made me cry. The Plumerias were a healing image for so many. People were so thankful. Several asked if I had prints to sell. I had to say,

"I'm sorry, I do not".

Then...lightbulb moment....What if I could sell prints of this painting to benefit the recovery effort? But...I don't have a website or a way of getting the info out to people.

What came to me clear as a bell was to create a website so I would have a way to offer Plumerias at Midnight. That evolved into this full-on website offering all my major works!!

Plumeria (Melia) is a symbol of
hope, strength and new beginnings

I have been wanting to offer my watercolors as prints for a long time. This is certainly a new beginning for me!

Plumerias at Midnight took approx. 25 hours to create because of the intense layering technique I invented and used. There are 10 or 12 layers of pigment mixed with water in most areas of the painting.
