 About Ornamental Banana
An old grove of this rare, exotic plant grew in my yard in Kona, planted more than 40 years ago by the prior owners of the property. 
 
Native to the Himalayas, Ornamental Banana are in the evergreen family and survive in freezing climates. Our grove was lucky to be living the tropical life in Hawaii! 
 
The flowers are other-worldly and grow on a single stalk up to 6 feet high. The leaves sprout from single stalks up to 15 feet high!
