About Ornamental Banana
An old grove of Ornamental Banana grew in my yard in Kona, planted more than 40 years ago by the prior owners of the property. 
 
This rare, exotic plant inspired me to paint "Ornamental Banana."
 
Native to the Himalayas, Ornamental Banana are in the evergreen family and survive in freezing climates. 
 
Our grove was lucky to be living the tropical life in Hawaii! 
 
The flowers grow on a single stalk up to 6 feet high. The leaves sprout from single stalks up to 15 feet high!
